Captain Elmo Diggs was a U.S. cavalry officer man who once encountered the stranded Marshalls. The Marshalls meet Diggs, claimed the Indian Lone Wolf, who was desperate to get medicine to his sick people, had stolen the medicine that his men need if they hope to survive.
At first, Diggs and Lone Wolf and were suspicion of each other, but Jack Marshall eventually brokered a peace between them. Eventually Diggs and the Indian medicine man rode off together, on one horse, hoping to return home to their time.
