Grumpy the T. rex from the 2009 film

The Tyrannosaurus rex is a large and fearsome carnivorous dinosaur. They were bipedal members of the order Saurischia; the average adult specimen weighed in at roughly seven tons. Their arms were quite small, but modern evidence reveals that they were strong enough to actually drag themselves or push themselves off of the ground when they were resting or had fallen. This trait has led some to believe that the animal was a massive scavenger, although it is possible that the jaws were so effective for killing large prey that the need for advanced fore-limbs gradually faded away.

Tyrannosaurus is featured in many popular films, books, and shows, and it is hailed as an apex predator, even though carnivores such as Carcharadontosaurus, and Giganotosaurus were larger. It has been proven that T-rex would have been more adept in a fight with one such animal due to the massive force behind its bite. An adult Tyrannosaurus, for example, could easily compress a large truck with a single, concentrated bite.

1974 and 1991 Versions[]

The T-rex was featured in both series as a main villain. Grumpy and Scarface are both Tyrannosaurs, and both depicted as being feared by everyone. In the 1974 series a female T-Rex named Matilda saves Will and the others by attacking Grumpy for being in her territory.

Marshall and his new friend

In "Land of the Lost," Grumpy (2009) stalks the characters and tries to eat them because Marshall insults Grumpy's walnut-sized brain. Throughout the movie, Grumpy is frequently trying to devour Marshall, but in the end, he becomes friends with the doctor after Rick vaults into Grumpy's stomach and removes an intestinal blockage, which was apparently the source of his aggressive disposition.
